Frangible Fibreglass Pole
Made from frangible fibreglass, this windsock pole is specially designed for aviation and airside applications. It will disintegrate on heavy impact, further increasing safety at airfields and airports.
The fibreglass is reinforced with polyester resin to a beautiful hard white weather-resistant finish. The tapered design (115m at the bottom tapering down to 75mm at the top) is more attractive and rigid than a typical tubular design. This robust windsock pole is a unique design available in a range of heights for your specific requirements.
At the top of the pole, a swivel arm is attached, which is what the windsock directly attaches to. The rotating swivel arm provides the freedom of movement required for the windsock to respond to the wind conditions.
Also included with this Frangible Fibreglass Pole is a hinged steel baseplate to secure the mast to the ground. This allows the pole to be tilted to the ground when installing and replacing the windsock, for convenience.
The Frangible Fibreglass Pole needs to be secured to the ground with a concrete foundation which is not supplied. We recommend installation by a qualified builder or contractor to guarantee the safety of the application. You’ll receive three foundation bolts with the product, to secure the pole to the concrete foundation base. The recommended concrete density for normal to heavy wind conditions is C35, and the depth is dependent on the height of the pole.
